In 2014, the 20th edition of Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be held in…
BRUSSELS
The 3rd and last day of tastings brought fantastic Italian Vin Santos and some interesting French Monbazillacs & Pineau des Charentes to our table. But the only Great Gold Medals went, on day 2, to 20 & 30 years tawny Ports, after a regular flight of French Sauternois. In overall our jury 54 – Portugal, France, Belgium, Slovakia, Luxembourg – worked in really close range and was capable of good sampling discrimination. Cherry on the cake was the good atmosphere among us. Since day 1 I decided to change the table setting into a U shape and that turned out to be a good call as eye-to-eye contact allows tasters to interact and discuss in a quiet, honest and orderly way. Some assessments were refined with great advantage to several wine producers. After all, that’s what this is all about: you trust your vintage outcome to a panel of experts and deserve the best possible assessment and ultimate judgment to your wines: an awarded medal. I do hope that this W suggestion would be accepted and implemented during the homeland edition. Happy 20th anniversary!
P.S. SPORTING Congratulations to FC Porto & FC Barcelona!
